Please Refrain From Skateboarding During Business Hours.
I was at the local Canadian Tire store just outside of town in a new power centre looking at compressors for the ongoing renos in my house and noticed a sign posted on the light pole that read, to my surprise, “PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SKATEBOARDING DURING BUSINESS HOURS”. (I will post a photo after I next head out there.)
Did I read that right! Sense reigns supreme. I used to skateboard in the 80’s and 90’s when my back didn’t hurt so much. I had gotten used to seeing signs telling me what not to do.
It is a subtle but very positive message to let young people know that, it is okay what they are doing - just be mindful when you do it. It also suggests to parents that Canadian Tire cares and supports young people. It makes me feel better about the store and its part in our community.

Polite, respectful, reasonable request. Very nice indeed.
So, where’s the photos?

I haven’t been out that way since my daughter Georgia was born at the end of September. Alas I will be heading out that way tonight.
